Hurlford is on the main road from Kilmarnock to other villages in a southerly direction e.g.Mauchline, Auchinleck, Catrine, Old Cumnock and New Cumnock and then to Dumfries. Galston Road takes you eastwards to Galston, Newmilns and Darvel, known locally as "The Valley" Riccarton Road takes you westwards to Bellfield and Kilmarnock.
